The town of
varazze

The stones tell of a Ligurian village, rich in art, tradition and spirituality.

Between the Ligurian Sea and Monte Beigua, Varazze intertwines history, nature and culture. The historic centre retains its Ligurian authenticity, with its caruggi (typical narrow alleys) and colourful houses. The Duomo di Sant’Ambrogio with its Romanesque-Gothic bell tower, the Conventi dei Capuccini e del Deserto, the ruins of the ancient Sant'Ambrogio and the Church of the Santo Cristo on Piani d'Invrea are worth a visit. Not to be missed is the Santuario di Santa Caterina, linked to the saint's Saint's visit in 1376. Varazze is the birthplace of Blessed Jacopo da Varagine, author of the famous Legenda Aurea.
