CONCERTS, EMOTIONS AND OPERA TRADITION IN THE HEART OF VARAZZE
From late July to early September, Varazze è Lirica brings great music to the most evocative and symbolic places in the city. A refined festival of concerts, shows, and awards featuring internationally renowned artists, combining cultural heritage, classical music, and public participation.
A tribute to the opera tradition.
Established in 2008, the festival is dedicated to promoting opera and the figure of composer Francesco Cilea, a native of Varazze. The award of the same name is presented during the event to leading performers on the international scene.
Shared cultural identity.
Promoted by the “Beato Jacopo da Varagine” Polyphonic Choir, in collaboration with the Municipality of Varazze and various local cultural organizations, Varazze è Lirica is now a regular summer event. It brings together local audiences and enthusiasts from all over Liguria, becoming more and more recognizable and popular year after year. In addition to the concert program, the festival offers educational events, insights into the opera repertoire, and opportunities for different generations and cultures to meet.
Music in places of art
One of the unique features of the festival is the choice of venues: places steeped in history and charm that host the performances, creating a dialogue between music and architecture.
- Piazza Sant'Ambrogio, the heart of the city center
- Collegiata di Sant'Ambrogio, a Romanesque-Gothic church, venue for organ and solo voice concerts
- Giardino delle Boschine, a natural and intimate setting for outdoor evenings
These spaces transform each event into a unique experience, where listening is intertwined with the beauty of the surroundings.
A rich and varied program.
The festival takes place over six weeks with a varied calendar: solo concerts, recitals, ensembles, awards, and celebratory events alternate, offering the public a rich and engaging overview of the world of opera. A festival worth noting!
Varazze è Lirica is one of the longest-running and most recognized musical events in western Liguria. Every year, it attracts an ever-growing audience, introducing new spectators to the world of opera through quality, emotion, and deep roots in the local area.
