Genova

The Ancient Heart: the Caruggi and the Historic Center
Genoa’s historic center is one of the largest and best-preserved in Europe. A winding maze of caruggi (narrow alleys), hidden squares, and historic shops suddenly opening onto Baroque churches or Renaissance palaces. Among the highlights are the Palazzi dei Rolli, noble residences and UNESCO World Heritage sites, which tell the story of the city’s commercial and cultural splendor.

The Old Port: Between Past and Future. Completely redeveloped by Renzo Piano, the Old Port (Porto Antico) is now one of the city’s main attractions. Here you'll find the Genoa Aquarium — one of the largest in Europe — the Biosphere, the panoramic Bigo, and a wide range of restaurants, museums, and cultural venues, ideal for a walk between the sea and architecture.

The Lanterna and Breathtaking Views. Symbol of the city, the Lanterna di Genova is the tallest lighthouse in the Mediterranean still in operation. From surrounding hills — such as Spianata Castelletto or Righi — you can enjoy spectacular views over the old town and port, especially at sunset.

Ligurian Cuisine: Authentic Flavors
Genoese cuisine is a journey through Mediterranean flavors. The famous pesto alla genovese, focaccia (including the Recco cheese version), panissa, friscieu, and savory pies are just a few of the specialties to taste in typical eateries or historic markets like Il Carmine or Piazza Palermo.

A City to Enjoy All Year Round. Genoa isn’t just about history and tradition — it also offers contemporary art, cultural events, concerts, festivals, and a lively nightlife, especially in the Maddalena district or along Corso Italia. It's perfect to visit in any season and also serves as a great starting point for exploring the Ligurian Riviera, from Camogli to Portofino, and as far as the Cinque Terre.

Genoa is an experience — a place that surprises and enchants those who know how to look at it with curious eyes. It’s not a city to rush through, but one to discover slowly, step by step, among steep alleys, the scent of sea salt, and lights reflecting on the water.
